Gray whales, Eschrichtius robustus are shown swimming along the coast, lighthouse in the background migrating north. Above and below water, they are beautiful leviathans of the deep. This POPupfoldOUT depicts a gray whale breaching at water surface while below swims a mother and her calf. The curled wave references Hiroshige and the alternate unfolds to show the environment of kelp forests along the Pacific coast.
